Brief
A Prestige Residential Property required us to Install approx. 50m2 of Stone Cladding with corners and capping, install stone on curves where careful cutting was required.
Next liaising with the owner to create a Landscape Design commissioning Anthea Dunlop who assisted with the “concept” Drawing, all works were co-ordinated with Linden projects the Principal contractor.
Challenge
Major stripping of builders rubbish and removal of clay soil, via very limited access on western boundary via mechanical barrow and wheelbarrow, Excavator assisted with the cut and shaping of the Rear yard. We note that the yard was a steep slope, and the client desired some level spaces to utilise to its full potential
Approach
Due to timeframes we had to ensure careful integration of all stages with stone cladding installed prior to the decking being installed, so precision with heights was critical. Communication was paramount at all times. Cost saving options were to be presented, so we constructed the stairs using treated pine sleepers and simply created a series of Box Stack Style stairs. Construction of the lower retaining walls begun using onsite Ballast and V Large boulder style utilised from the demolition of the original retaining walls, we cut and shaped the stone as per Linden Projects and Owners requests and design.
Outcome/Result
A Grand set of stairs met the brief as a centre piece connecting the terraced lawn areas and the decked pool area to the house, planter boxes built with treated pine sleepers and then stained, to assist with the retaining of the land, with the shapes important from the top of the property as the angles were important from this view.
Mixed pallet of Natives and exotics were installed softening the design.
Some finishing touches of stainless steel wiring and timber screen to hide underside of pool, and then the client installed a small Vege/herb garden as this was a desire and a must have.
The end result I believe was a truly amazing transformation. With a bit of a contemporary feel!
